for single pdf print/converts, the free version works fine.
you also need the paid version to batch print, as we occasionally needed to batch print hundreds of pdf files at a time. we did spend the $9.95 per seat to avoid the ads though.

we only needed to "print" a portable pdf document. adobe is the gold standard, but they offered way more features and functions that we didn't need. we created thousands, if not tens of thousands of pdf files with pdf995. when you have a few dozen employees that have the need to create pdf files, but spending several hundred dollars per seat times several dozen seats seems a little much, you find alternatives. we used it at the company i used to work for. Jimif you're on the fence about the pdf printer issue. I'll look into viewers and see what shows up. I didn't search for viewers.just converters. A couple of the reviews on TurboCAD were pretty bad, so I'm not sure I want to do that. A simple viewer would be fine, as would a different CAD program, if that's what it takes.

The updates eventually got really expensive, so I stopped updating. I needed it for my construction business, and couldn't afford Auto-Cad.
I learned CAD using Intellicad, years ago.
